Slumdog Millionaire is a 2008 British historical drama film directed by Danny Boyle. It tells the story of Jamal Malik, an 18-year-old boy in Mumbai, India who becomes one of the biggest game show winners in history. Directed with Boyle's characteristic energy and enthusiasm, it is both an entertainment and a thought-provoking look at poverty. Hollywood has never been my favorite place to visit, but I can’t deny that Slumdog Millionaire was fascinating. The movie had many gripping moments that I don’t want to forget before I watch it one more time. The story of Jamal Malik, a young boy from the slums of Mumbai who is chosen as one of 24 contestants on India's version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire? Jamal, being from the slums, had no idea that he was eligible for the show at all. He just happened to be in the right place at the right time when the show was recorded. The answers to each question are recorded in digital video format and broadcast at prime time over Indian television. With answers recorded during his stay in Mumbai, Jamal wins 16 million rupees (US$3 million). The director uses all his skills to piece together these answers using interviews with people who were there at different stages along Jamal's journey. The movie was made based on a novel of the same name, written by Vikas Swarup, who is actually a diplomat for India. The movie was first shown at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival. It eventually won the People's Choice Award there. The movie is about how an innocent boy becomes a contestant of one of the most popular game shows in India, where he becomes an instant celebrity overnight. It follows his story as he becomes one of the top contestants on the show, and how it affected many different people's lives. The film is very interesting because it features actual video clips of Pakistan television programs. I enjoyed watching this movie because it had all kinds of emotions in it, from love to sorrow to anger. It was a movie that you could laugh with, cry with, and even get angry at. It was all about how different people are affected by the decisions of others. The actors did a very good job at bringing out these emotions in the characters. The director made this movie very entertaining to watch, but he also put in real drama within the story line of this film.At first glance it might not be so obvious that Slumdog is political, but what it addresses is real and makes one think about things deeply and carefully. cfa1e77820
